What quote inspires you?
“…And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8b

What is your favorite color and why?
My favorite color is cobalt blue because it’s bright and makes me feel calm and happy.

What is your favorite piece of furniture in your classroom?
Well, I am ever so grateful for the sink in our art room! I can’t imagine having art without a sink!

How would you describe your teaching style?
I would say more direct because I have to present the material and explain how we are going to get whatever art project accomplished. I’m a pretty laid back teacher who tries to demonstrate love and encouragement towards all my students.

When did you know you wanted to become a teacher?
I finally realized that I wanted to be a teacher when I was at a school working as an aide. It was then when I decided to get started on my Master’s of Education to work towards becoming a teacher.

What is your favorite lesson/unit to teach?
I love when we are working with paint, even though it’s more prep for me with materials. The kids love it and have the most fun with it.

What is your greatest challenge in teaching?
One big challenge has been getting the timing right in trying to get everything cleaned up before it’s time for that class to leave. Painting days are extremely busy, especially when I’m working with the younger elementary students.

If you could have a career other than a teacher, what would it be?
School Psychologist

What’s something your students probably don’t know about you?
I can still do a handstand!

If a student were to remember something about your class 50 years from now, what do you hope it would be?
I would hope that they would remember the importance in being a light in this dark world and showing others the love of Christ.

What are your three favorite books?
1. The Bible
2. Wild at Heart by John Eldredge
3. The Life You’ve Always Wanted by John Ortberg

Which do you prefer:

pen or pencil

coffee or tea

afternoon or morning

packed lunch or hot lunch

faculty meeting or dentist
