“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela

What is your favorite color and why?
Green. Green is associated with money, energy, and nature—three of my favorite things!!!

What is your favorite piece of furniture in your classroom?
Not necessarily a piece of furniture, but each kid is issued an iPad and that makes the learning really exciting and engaging for the kids.

How would you describe your teaching style?
I would describe my teaching style as the facilitator and the students actively working together in groups. My teaching style emphasizes student-centered learning with a lot of responsibility on the students. I believe this allows the students to take initiative and learn the importance of collaborating with other individuals.

When did you know you wanted to become a teacher?
A very early age. I can remember making a classroom in my parent’s basement and would play “school” every day after I came home from school.

What is your favorite lesson/unit to teach?
I love teaching Ancient Rome & Ancient Greece

What is your greatest challenge in teaching?
Williston is a Title 1 school so reaching every student is always a challenge for me. Teaching middle school is also often a challenge because it’s that awkward stage where so many changes are happening for them—but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

If you could have a career other than a teacher, what would it be?
Interior Decorator

What’s something your students probably don’t know about you?
I think students always assume that their teacher was really smart and tried their best in school—not the case for me! I didn’t really care about school until I attended college.

If a student were to remember something about your class 50 years from now, what do you hope it would be?
That I considered them my family and appreciated them every day!

What are your three favorite books?
1. The Outsiders
2. The Great Gatsby
3. Harry Potter Series

Which do you prefer:

pen or pencil

coffee or tea

morning or afternoon

packed lunch or hot lunch

faculty meeting or dentist
